Welcome to the European Interprofessional Practice and Education Network in health and social care. EIPEN aims to develop and share effective interprofessional training programme modules, methods and materials for improving collaborative practice and multi agency working in health and social care. Although IPE has been strongly advocated as improving the quality of care and integrated services and there is a growing body of evidence of its effectiveness, there remain significant questions concerning its implementation. These questions include the management of interprofessional teamwork, the preparation of teachers and mentors in the workplace, the mix of disciplines and transferability of learning, and resistance from established professional or academic bodies. Sharing expertise and methods across borders will expand and improve IPE in partner countries. Therefore we organize biannual conferences and regional workshops.
The conference in Ghent was a success, with more than 40 presentations and workshops, and attendees from different continents. The Charter for IPE in Europe was revealed. In December or January a regional Dutch-speaking follow-up conference will be held, with an opportunity for Flemish and Dutch organizations to sign this Charter. The next conference will be held in Ljubjana (Slovenia) in September 2013. Mark this website in your favourites or send us a message to stay updated.
At the conference the start has been given to establish EIPEN as a membership organization of educational and clinical institutions. Membership rates will be made public by the end of 2011. The network will be founded by member institutions from the UK, Belgium, Poland, Finland, Slovenia, and the Netherlands.
